The Brother MFC-8300 is a multifunction monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. It is an excellent printer and fax machine, but as a copy machine, it is hindered by the lack of a flatbed scanning surface. The MFC-8300 can print, copy, and fax. As a fax machine, it has all the necessary features for a small office. It has One Touch Dial access to up to 32 locations, and 100 locations for speed dial. It has a handset for taking voice calls, and its onboard memory can store up to 90 pages when the unit is out of paper or users need to reprint a fax. The Brother MFC-8300 is mainly designed as a fax machine, so its copy function seems like a bit of an afterthought. Copies come out generally good, but the machine's scanner is not overly impressive. Sent faxes look as good as faxes can, but scan quality is not sharp enough for high quality copies.
